5th Annual City of Water Day Festival -- NYC
5th Annual City of Water Day Festival is a FREE day-long event sponsored by the Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance celebrating the potential of the NY-NJ harbor and waterways hosted by the Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance. One week from today, the Worldwatch Institute celebrates the release of State of the World 2012: Moving Toward Sustainable Prosperity. This special edition of Worldwatch's flagship publication aims to facilitate dialogue around the issue of sustainable and equitable development by showcasing the creative policies and fresh approaches that will take center stage at this year's Rio+20 U.N. Conference.
To celebrate, we are inviting all of our D.C., Maryland, and Virginia friends to join us at the Woman's National Democratic Club for the State of the World 2012: Moving Toward Sustainable Prosperity launch and symposium on April 11. The event is free of charge, but space is limited.
If you live outside the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, we invite you to participate in the event via webstream on the Worldwatch website on the day of the symposium.

SeaWeb’s 10th International Seafood Summit
SeaWeb's 10th International Seafood Summit to be held in Asia.
SeaWeb has announced the dates and location for the 10th annual Seafood Summit. SeaWeb’s Seafood Summit brings together global representatives from the seafood industry and conservation community for in-depth discussions, presentations and networking around the issue of sustainable seafood.
The goal of the Summit is to foster dialogue and partnerships that lead to a seafood marketplace that is environmentally, socially and economically sustainable. The Summit, which has traditionally been held in Europe and North America, will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year in Asia. In addition to the core program there will be a series of unique field trips and topical workshops before and after the Summit.
WHO: The Seafood Summit is attended by a diverse group of seafood industry professionals including producers, processors, distributors, buyers, retailers, chefs and restaurateurs, as well as other stakeholders such as conservation groups, policy makers, academics and the media. The Summit is the only event where all stakeholders come together around sustainable seafood.

Proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement. -- INECE
Proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement. The theme of the conference was “Enforcement Cooperation: Strengthening Environmental Governance” and the conference was held in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada, from 20-24 June 2011.
The Proceedings provide a robust overview of the breadth of issues discussed at the Conference. Among other things, they present summaries of the plenary sessions, the many workshop discussions, and include sixty-one papers, all submitted by members of the INECE community, that support the themes of the Conference: Enforcement Challenges Across Borders, Promoting Compliance with Climate-related Requirements, Proven Compliance and Enforcement Strategies, Improving Implementation of Environmental Legislation, Non-Traditional Approaches, Strengthening Compliance Institutions, and ‘Developing Effective Enforcement Networks.
As a whole, these Proceedings capture the calls to action, recommendations, and outcomes that emerged during INECE’s 9th International Conference. The Proceedings serve to promote dialogue at both the national and international level on the broad themes of the Conference. BuildingEnergy is the most established and most cross-disciplinary renewable energy and high performance building conference in the region. Second WHO Meeting on Global Collaboration in Chemical Risk Assessment

Background
In March 2010, the World Health Organization convened a Meeting on Strengthening Global Collaboration in Chemical Risk Assessment to discuss common interests, activities and needs in the field of chemical risk assessment and help shape future activities of the risk assessment community internationally. Participants identified a number of key issues and priority actions to address these needs, such as in the areas of:
capacity building/training,
chemical risk assessments/sharing knowledge,
risk assessment methodology and
research.
Meeting participants also discussed means of strengthening collaboration globally to support chemical risk assessment, including the recommended option of establishing a WHO International Risk Assessment Network.

Yale Conservation Finance Camp
The 6th annual Yale Conservation Finance Camp will be held at Yale University, Monday, June 4 through Friday, June 8, 2012. The course offers the latest information on a wide range of innovative conservation finance tools, including new sources of philanthropic funds, public capital and private investment, as well as a framework for analyzing and packaging them.
The camp is focused on useful, hands-on tools for conservation practitioners and board members, foundation leaders, private investors and graduate students. Energy Innovation Summit -- DOE
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E) will hold its third annual Energy Innovation Summit from February 27–29, 2012 at the Gaylord Convention Center just outside Washington, D.C.
"Now in its third year, the Summit is designed to unite key players from all sectors of the nation’s energy innovation community to share ideas for developing and deploying the next generation of clean energy technologies. The event is co-hosted by ARPA-E and Clean Technology and Sustainable Industries Organization (CTSI).
Last year’s annual ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit attracted more than 90 speakers and 2,000 attendees from 49 states and 20 countries. Attendees included members of research and development institutions, global corporations, technology entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers and government officials.
The event will feature a technology showcase with more than 150 exhibits from DOE and ARPA-E-funded projects and applicants in areas such as energy storage technologies for electrical grids, power electronics, batteries for electric vehicles, energy-efficient building technologies, advanced carbon capture, and electrofuels. The showcase will also feature new ARPA-E programs that aim to advance alternatives to rare earth materials, plant engineering for fuel applications, advanced thermal storage, network integration architecture for the electrical grid, and power electronics for solar photovoltaic applications. A wide range of other energy technologies and new topic areas will also be discussed at the Summit."

11th National Conference on Science, Policy and the Environment: Our Changing Oceans
The National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE) presents the 11th National Conference on Science, Policy and the Environment: Our Changing Oceans on January 19-21, 2011 in Washington, DC. Our Changing Oceans will be held at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.
This year, the conference will provide a forum to address the crisis facing our oceans, new knowledge and innovative tools to address the challenge, and the policy and governance needed to restore and protect the oceans.
Our Changing Oceans will bring together scientists, professionals, policy makers, university faculty and students, and educated citizens from a wide range of disciplines to share their perspectives and work to address the topic at hand.
NCSE utilizes a multi-disciplinary and multi-sectoral approach to convene involved scientists and decision-makers from various sectors of society. Our conferences include renowned speakers, topical symposia to explore issues more in depth, and breakout sessions to develop a set of recommendations on how to advance science and connect it to policy and decision-making.
Our Changing Oceans is divided into eight themes, each with several breakout sessions and symposia.
