[t]he intent of this Strategy is to set the national priority actions needed for the establishment of new marine protected areas in Lebanon and for the proper management of existing and new marine protected areas (MPAs), and to define the type of interventions needed at technical, research, regulatory, policy, institutional, financial, educational, capacity building, communication and promotion levels.

IUCN Report Released: Lebanon’s Marine Protected Area Strategy: Supporting the Management of Important Marine Habitats and Species in Lebanon
This month, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), "the world’s oldest and largest global environmental organization," released a report titled, Lebanon’s Marine Protected Area Strategy: Supporting the Management of Important Marine Habitats and Species in Lebanon (2013).
